DEVELOPMENT OF OSlOFJORD CONVENTION CENTER

The architects Niels Torp won the architectural competition with their “Sun, wind and stars” proposal, and this shaped plans for a hotel city, a new and an environmentally friendly infrastructure, underground parking, and beautiful open park areas.

The project includes:

  • 16 new hotel buildings (1600 suites)
  • Activity facilities and outdoor activity park, totaling 20 000 m2
  • Extensive work with outdoor areas and the construction of new park facilities
  • Underground parking with 1 500 parking places.
  • Upgrading of existing Conference Center
  • Technical infrastructure and roads
  • Total investment: 3.6 BNOK.
  • Construction of bathing area with beach, pier, freshwater showers, toilets and parks at Rossnessodden
  • Construction of coastal trail along the whole of Olsåsen and up to Brunstadveien where it connects to the trail network at Trælsodden
  • Construction of a hiking and cycle path from RV 303 towards the coastal trail
  • Improved crossing at RV 303 and at Sjuestokveien
  • Expanded Skjærsnesveien
  • Extensive excavation to replace many components in the municipal sewage system. Just over 4 kilometers of new main drainage pipeline has been laid in the ground, as well as a completely new pumping station that ensures that the waste water is transferred to Vårnes treatment plant. This is good news for the environment – and for swimmers in Melsomvik.
